Raising Razorbacks: A Collection of Burnett Stories

$19.95

What does it take to mold three young men into Razorbacks?

Being a part of the Arkansas Razorback football program is a tremendous honor. But for the Burnett brothers of Smackover, Arkansas, the honor was tripled!  Bobby, Tommy, and Billy all played as Hogs for the Arkansas Razorbacks – a rare feat – and all three left their mark on Arkansas football and beyond.

Raising Razorbacks: A Collection of Burnett Stories shares anecdotes and behind-the-scenes stories of a family who produced three highly successful athletes.  With humor and humility, Bobby, Tommy, and Billy share their experiences growing up with their parents, Clell and Frances, and what it took to forge successful careers as Razorbacks and more.  The Burnett brothers not only excelled on the football field; they are scholars, gentlemen, and family men whose legacy continues to this day.

“Smackover was a great place to grow up. I had a great high school class; they were all so nice. I could name just about all sixty-three of us; we were a really close group. They were a big part of my life, and I enjoy being around them when we get together. I am very grateful for all of my classmates in the Class of 1962 and the wonderful town of Smackover, Arkansas.”

Dr. Tommy Burnett

“Growing up in Smackover was the quintessential equal to living in a Norman Rockwell painting.”

Dr. Billy Burnett

“I loved Smackover and cannot think of a better place for us to have grown up.”

Bobby Burnett

“They (coaches that recruited Bobby) were great, but here’s the thing - I always wanted to be a Razorback. Since I was a little boy, I always wanted to play for the Razorbacks. They finally came through with the offer I wanted, and that was it. I was going to Arkansas to play for the Razorbacks.”

Bobby Burnett

“They (Arkansas coaches) talked to Daddy for a long time and then they came into the locker room, and I will always remember what they said: “Tommy, we would like to offer you a scholarship to play football for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Just like your brother, we want you on the team.” Well, it was an easy choice, I was going to Arkansas to be a Razorback.”

Dr. Tommy Burnett

“When they came through with the deal I wanted, I could not say yes fast enough. I just wanted to be a Razorback.”
